The Instant Pot craze is still raging and it seems as if everybody has one, or at least they are more than willing to recommend one if you don’t. It’s one of those magical kitchen items that seems to do everything, from pressure cooking to rice cooking, sautéing, keeping food warm and even acting as your new slow cooker. It’s also widely proclaimed as a healthy eating tool by many.
One of the benefits of owning an Instant Pot is the versatility that it offers. It seems as if you can do almost anything in it, but there are some things that should never be done with it. Here are a few that you would want to certainly keep off the to-do list for your Instant Pot.
1. Deep frying – it may sound interesting to throw some chicken in the Instant Pop and deep fry it, but it just doesn’t work that way. The temperature doesn’t get hot enough to fry, so stick to your air fryer or deep fryer.
2. Cookies – I’m not saying that there aren’t any cookie recipes, but you may want to just use the oven. Cookies require a flat surface and the Instant Pot will not heat them correctly.
3. Yogurt – of course, it’s possible to make yogurt, but it also tends to be something that causes more problems than it’s worth. Making yogurt can take more than 18 hours and if you aren’t careful, you may end up with a mess.
4. Creamy sauce – dairy products are not going to do well in your slow cooker or your Instant Pot. If you use the quick heat function, it will curdle or scald the milk and your cheese will clump together. If you must use dairy with your Instant Pot recipes, pressure cook first and then mix in the dairy after.
5. Bread – there are some bread recipes but it’s not the optimal method for making good bread. There’s not really a benefit as far as time is concerned and you won’t have a crust. In addition, it’s not going to look very good when you’re done.
