How To Carve A Pineapple For Halloween

Tired of the traditional jack-o’-lantern? This tropical alternative is a big trend this year for Halloween. Not only is it fun, but proves that pumpkins aren’t the only fruit capable of holding a funny face.

My favorite part? The tall, oval shape fruit comes with its own built-in hairdo! The spiky leaves rested on top of the fruit give your jack-o’-lantern more personality.

Once you are done carving your pineapple, you can eat the sweet inside or make a pina colada.

For this project, make sure to select a pineapple that is free of blemishes, but not overly ripe. If the pineapple is ripe, then it will become one big sticky mess.

What you’re going to need:

– A pineapple
– A cutting board
– Two knives – one large, one small
– Pineapple corer
– Paper towels
– Flameless candle

Make sure to follow these step-by-step below and use the video at the bottom for reference.

Step 1: Carefully cut the top off the pineapple.

Step 2: Core the pineapple, using the corer.

Step 3: Drain the juice out into a bowl or glass. You’re going to want to save this for later to make a cocktail.

Step 4: Carefully remove the pineapple core at its base, using the small knife or pineapple core-cutting knife.

Step 5: Dry the inside with paper towels.

Step 6: Cut two triangles for eyes.

Step 7: Cut the mouth.

Step 8: We recommend inserting a flameless candle rather than a traditional candle. This is because the juicy inside doesn’t hold up as well as a pumpkin.

Step 9: Put the top back on your pineapple and set it out on your porch or inside your home.
