The cathedral is constructed over a three month period leading up to the Easter holiday and usually lasts a few months before it is taken down.

The tradition of the bread cathedral can be traced all the way back to ancient times. When royalty came to visit, they expected to be greeted by fancy displays and riches. The people of this particular villiage were poor farmers, but they had a lot of bread!
