Banana Cream Cheesecake

Banana pudding is pretty popular in certain parts of this country. And if you’ve ever tasted it, you can see why. It’s basically vanilla pudding with vanilla wafers and sliced bananas, what’s not to like? Oh, and it’s topped with whipped cream so there is that as well. A common variation of this simple and classic dessert has been to turn the pudding into more of a pie. And that is where you get that wonderful banana cream pie form. The pie in itself has become a dessert classic as well.

One would think that after banana pudding and banana cream pie, there can’t really be any more dessert mashups to be made. Right? And that is where you’d be wrong. It turns out that you can take the classic banana cream pie and use that as the basis for this latest dessert inspiration: Banana Cream Cheesecake!

And the best part is that this is a very simple recipe. The straightforward recipe comes to us from, and while it has a pretty classic cheesecake recipe, there are some significant changes in order for it to achieve its distinct flavor. Firstly, the traditional graham cracker crust is substituted for a crushed vanilla wafers crust. Yum! And then in the actual cheesecake portion, there is a whole lot of mashed bananas and banana liqueur going on. Yum again!

So, how do you make his divine-sounding dessert? Glad you asked. You can follow a few simple steps below:

First off, you will need a springform pan.

Then, you’ll form the crust using crushed vanilla wafers, ground walnuts (optional for those with nut allergies or who just loath walnuts like me) and melted butter.

Once that mixture is combined, then you press your crust into the bottom of your pan.

The next step is to make the filling.

In order to do this, you will require a combination of cream cheese, sugar, flour, eggs, sour cream, bananas, banana liqueur, and vanilla extract.

After that is all mixed together you pour it into your pan on top of the crust, then bake the cheesecake/

After your cheesecake is out of the oven and cooling on a rack, you can make the topping.

For this, you’ll need unflavored gelatin, cold water, milk, sugar, egg yolks, vanilla extract, heavy cream, and more vanilla wafers.
